Release of qView Image Viewer 2.0

Available major new release of image viewer qView2.0, which offers a Qt-based graphical interface focused on efficient use of screen space. The program supports all popular image formats and, despite the minimalistic interface, provides such advanced features as managing the playback of animated images, accessing the history of file operations, pre-loading images in multi-threaded mode, basic editing operations (mirroring, rotating, etc.). The user is also provided with a large set of options that allow you to customize the application to your taste. The project code is written in C++ and spreads licensed under GPLv3. Ready packages prepared by for Linux (deb, rpm), macOS ΠΈ Windows.

Main innovations:

  • A system of caching and preemptive loading of images has been implemented, which significantly reduces the time for displaying the next file;
  • Multi-threaded loading of images is provided, eliminating delays in the interface when switching between images;
  • Redesigned settings dialog. Added a button to reset to default settings;
  • Added options for adapting the window size to the actual size of the current image and for blocking the scaling of images above the current size when the window is resized;
  • The position of the current image in the list of viewed files in the current directory is shown in the header. With the properties of the image, the parameters of the aspect ratio are reflected;
  • Implemented natural sort mode;
  • Added support for back and forward buttons on the mouse to switch between images. Implemented the ability to exit full-screen mode using the Escape key. You can now jump to the first and last image in the list via the menu and home/end keys. Provided automatic stop of the slideshow mode when opening a new file;
  • For Ubuntu prepared by PPA repository.
