Another LinkedIn profile owned by a developer from Windows Storage Spaces groups at Microsoft, mentions his work on bringing Storage Spaces technology to the Windows Core operating system. It is worth saying that Storage Spaces in Windows and Windows Server is designed to improve the protection of user data from disk failures and increase the reliability of devices.

The acronym WCOS is also mentioned in several LinkedIn job postings. Multiple profiles point to new Notification Center on Windows Core and open source components. Recall that Windows Core is a modular operating system, created, probably, in order to make it possible to run Windows on devices of any format, as well as improve performance and energy efficiency in specialized tasks. It is believed that Windows Core will be used, for example, in the next generation HoloLens.

Incidentally, Microsoft recently patented a foldable dual-screen device that will have virtual volume mixing controls instead of physical volume controls. The company also noted in the patent application that the device could support separate apps and features on both displays. That is, for example, a user can run mapping software on one screen and play on another.
