Microsoft continues to develop the connection between Windows 10 and Android, making it easier to share disparate devices. The Windows 10 Your Phone desktop app already lets you reply to text messages and , from the phoneβs memory, transfer data from the screen of a mobile device to a PC, and so on.
Now, Microsoft is reportedly working on the next major feature to further merge the systems. The SharedContentPhotos, ContentTransferCopyPaste, and ContentTransferDragDrop functions were found in the codebase of the latest version of Your Phone. Judging by the names, they will be responsible for transferring not only photos, but also any other files between a smartphone and a PC without the need to physically connect the devices with a cable. However, this functionality does not work yet.
It is expected that after debugging, the company will make it possible to copy or transfer data from Android devices to Windows 10 or vice versa, as if the work was done with an external drive connected by cable.
Unlike OneDrive, the new transfer feature will provide seamless and tighter integration than traditional clouds.
The Your Phone app was originally released in 2018, and Microsoft continues to develop it to build brand awareness among mobile device users. Along the way, the company also develops service applications for Android, such as Microsoft Launcher and Link to Windows. Finally, Microsoft plans to launch its own dual-screen Android smartphone in 2020.
