Famitsu has been released since 1986, and during its existence, only 40 games have received the coveted 26 points (the score is given by four reviewers at once), including four works by Hideo Kojima (Hideo Kojima) - Death Stranding, MGS 4, MGS: Peace Walker and MGS 5.

Hirokazu Hamamura served as editor-in-chief of Famitsu until 2012. He is now president of the Enterbrain publishing house, but is still strongly associated with the magazine.

In Death Stranding, Hamamura plays a collector whose father was a video game magazine editor prior to the events of the story. Among other things, the character allegedly tells the main character that he will "get into the Hall of Fame." This is the name of the list of games with the highest rating from Famitsu.

Notably, Famitsu's review of Death Stranding makes no mention of Hamamura's role. Among other things, the mascot of the magazine, Neki the fox, was found in the game.

Users of the 2ch imageboard, who noticed the cameo, are wondering if it is ethical for Famitsu to review the game in which its former editor-in-chief appeared, and even give it the maximum score.

Players agree that the mere presence of Hamamura in Death Stranding is not something bad, but there should not have been a review or at least a concealment of a cameo in this case.

This isn't Hamamura's first appearance in a video game: the former Famitsu editor-in-chief can be seen in 428: Shibuya Scramble (Japan-only on the Wii) and an ad for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Both received the highest marks from the publication.

Death Stranding was released on November 8 on PS4, and it will make its way to PC in the summer of 2020. Sales figures for the game in Japan are not yet available, but British retail the novelty got off to a bad start Days Gone.
