Baikonur was created by the labor of hundreds of thousands of workers, and thanks to them, the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite and the first manned flight into space took place from the cosmodrome.

It is reported that Roscosmos continues to actively work with Kazakhstani partners to implement the Baiterek project. The start of flight tests of the Irtysh (Soyuz-5) launch vehicle with the latest manned spacecraft is scheduled for 2022.

“The State Corporation fully and on time fulfills all its obligations under the interstate lease agreement for the Baikonur complex, calculated for the period up to 2050,” the Roscosmos website says.

Currently, work continues at the Baikonur Cosmodrome as part of the upcoming launch of the Progress MS-11 transport cargo vehicle to the International Space Station (ISS), which is scheduled for April 4 this year. The device will deliver into orbit fuel, water and other cargoes necessary for the operation of the station in a manned mode.

On March 19, a meeting of the technical management was held, at which the readiness of the Progress MS-11 spacecraft for refueling with fuel components and compressed gases was confirmed.
