AI-powered auto-correct is coming to Gmail

After writing emails, users usually have to proofread the text to find typos and grammatical errors. To simplify the process of interacting with the Gmail email service, Google developers have integrated a spelling and grammatical correction function that works automatically.

AI-powered auto-correct is coming to Gmail

The new Gmail feature works similarly to the spelling and grammar checker that arrived in Google Docs in February of this year. As you type, the system analyzes what you have written and then highlights common grammatical and spelling errors with blue and red wavy lines, respectively. To accept a correction, simply click on the highlighted word. In addition, corrected words will also be highlighted so that the user can undo the changes if necessary.

The error correction feature is powered by AI technology with machine learning, which helps it identify not only common errors and typos, but also makes it a useful tool in more complex cases.

The feature currently only supports English. It will be useful to people for whom English is not their native language, but who regularly have to write messages in it. At the initial stage, the spelling and grammar check function will be available to G Suite users. G Suite subscribers will be able to take advantage of the new feature in the coming weeks. As for the widespread adoption of the new tool for private Gmail users, it will likely take longer before the spelling and grammar checking feature is available to everyone.
