Google introduced the Currents service instead of the closed Google+

Google has previously begun to close the social network Google+, which actually ceased to work only for ordinary users. The corporate part of the network remains in service and has now been renamed to Currents. This applies to those using G Suite.

Currently, Currents is in beta, and once you sign up, you can migrate existing content in your organization to it. The developers say the new system will allow them to communicate within organizations, keep everyone in the loop, and enable managers to stay in touch with employees. In the service, you can publish quick notes, add tags and assign priorities. The design has also been updated, which allows you to publish information faster.

Interestingly, Google already had the Currents service, but then it was used to read magazines. Later, it "grew" to Google Play Newsstand, and then to Google News.

Recall that earlier Google acknowledged security problems with its social network, since it had a vulnerability. It allowed access to data of closed and optional fields of the profile. Among them were, for example, email addresses, names, data on age and gender. All this data could be read by developers of third-party applications.

Luckily, other information like Google+ posts, messages, phone numbers, or G Suite content wasn't available. However, as they say, "the sediment remained." Plus, the social network was little unclaimed, which, coupled with technical problems, led to the closure of the resource.
