Hideo Kojima reveals early draft titled Dead Stranding instead of Death Stranding

Famous game developer Hideo Kojima used the beginning of 2020 to once again recall his latest project. On social media pages, Kojima-san shared an early concept Death Stranding, which he sketched before writing the script.

It is curious that the original name of the game is written on it, which is similar to the one known to the public, but slightly different: Dead Stranding. If Sony decided to translate "Death Stranding" into Russian as "Death Loop" or "Exit", then "Dead Stranding" should be read as "Dead Loop" or "Dead Exit"?

Hideo Kojima reveals early draft titled Dead Stranding instead of Death Stranding

First Hideo Kojima shared on Instagram black-and-white sketch, which depicts a nameless character in front and profile with weapons in his hands and heavy military equipment. The atmosphere of the picture is very different from the close-to-horror mood of Death Stranding. Then the developer shared some details already on Twitter:

Rough translation: “Found on my iPhone is a sketch by Kojima Productions Artistic Director Yoji Shinkawa that dates back to the early days of the Death Stranding concept period. There was no written script at the time, so I just verbally explained to him what Warrior space was. We used to call the project back then by another name, Dead Stranding."

This is a rather curious approach that we rarely see in other studios, as the new name and equipment of the characters gives the impression of a completely different game. Death Stranding is currently available exclusively on PS4, but should launch on PC later this year.
