Players are leaving Dota Underlords

Over the past few months, Dota Underlords has been experiencing a steady decline in activity. Looks like Valve's strategy is having trouble retaining players.

Players are leaving Dota Underlords

Как said user SharkyIzrod on Reddit, the number of Dota Underlords players has plummeted since the release of the project in June last year. On the site Steam Charts it can be seen that over the past 30 days the average number of users has fluctuated around 11, while the peak value is 275 at the time of writing. For comparison, in October the average number of players was over 16, and the peak was over 394.

Valve developed Dota Underlords following the success of the community-created Dota Auto Chess mode within Dota 2. The mode became another phenomenon in the multiplayer arena and managed to win over seven million users within the first three months of its release. Because of this, Valve became interested in Dota Auto Chess, but could not come to an agreement with the developers. As a result, Dota Underlods was born. The developers of Dota Auto Chess are currently working on a separate project for mobile, PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch called Auto Chess.
