An experimental release of the open source implementation of the Win32 API, Wine 11.12, has been published. Since the release of 11.11, 27 bug reports have been closed and 228 changes have been made.
The most important changes:
- The libswresample (audio sample rate resampling) and libswscale (image scaling and pixel format conversion) libraries have been ported from FFmpeg to Wine. Previously ported libraries have been updated to FFmpeg 8.1.1.
- The Wine Mono engine has been updated to release 11.2.0. Wine Mono is a Framework Mono distribution designed to be used in Wine instead of the proprietary .NET Framework.
- The MSXML (Microsoft XML Core Services) library implements support for the XSLPattern query language parser (used before XPath).
- Added tiptsf.dll and rtscom.dll libraries with stubs for the ITextInputPanel and RealTimeStylus interfaces.
- Closed error reports related to the operation of the following applications: MS Office 2007, Corel PaintShop Pro, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3/X4, Microsoft Money, LTspice, Progman, Slingplayer, WFServicesReg.exe, Taskkill, Avogadro, Greenshot, ComicRack Community Edition, SymCrypt.
- Closed bug reports related to the following games: Against the Storm: Encyclopedia, Need for Speed Most Wanted (2005), Super Hexagon, Sonic Boom.
At the same time, Wine Staging 11.12 was released, providing extended Wine builds that include incomplete or risky patches that are not yet suitable for inclusion in the main Wine branch. Compared to Wine, Wine Staging provides 289 additional patches. The new Wine Staging release synchronizes with the Wine 11.12 codebase and updates the vkd3d code. Implementations of the tiptsf.dll and rtscom.dll libraries have been ported to the main Wine distribution. The winex11-ime-check-thread-data patch has been removed, as it is no longer required. Read/write support for ntdll has been implemented using new memory guard pages. Compiler warnings have been resolved in the comctl32_animate_avi, windowscodecs-TIFF_Support, and mmsystem.dll16-MIDIHDR_Refcount patches.
