A new episode of the hit comedy series Friends will premiere this May with the launch of the HBO Max streaming service. Information about this was published on the official website of WarnerMedia Corporation, which is the owner of the HBO television network.

The report states that after more than 15 years since the end of the series, the main characters will once again unite to please their fans. The reunion will take place as part of a new episode, which will be filmed specifically for the HBO Max service. The new episode of the popular series, as well as the remaining 236 episodes, will be available to subscribers at the start of the service.

Friends fans will be able to see all the stars of the series again: Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer. According to available data, the fee for each actor for filming a new episode will be $2,5–3 million. It is noteworthy that in the final season of Friends, the actors received more than half as much for filming each episode.

It's worth noting that HBO Max will be one of the most expensive streaming services, with subscribers paying $14,99 monthly. By comparison, subscriptions to competing services like Apple TV Plus, Disney Plus, Hulu or Peacock range from $5 to $12 per month. Obviously, HBO Max will need exclusive content to justify such a high price for the service. A new episode of the popular series Friends, as well as an impressive catalog of films and TV shows, should help the service attract the attention of potential subscribers.
