The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced the completion of the core stage of the Space Launch System (SLS) super-heavy launch vehicle, designed to launch the Orion manned spacecraft to the Moon as part of the Artemis-1 mission. The assembly was carried out at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans (Louisiana, USA).

It is the largest rocket stage NASA has ever built at its Louisiana facility, including the Saturn V rocket stages for the agency's first lunar missions. Reportedly, more than 1100 NASA partner companies contributed to its creation.

On January XNUMX, the rocket stage was loaded onto the space agency's Pegasus barge for delivery to the John Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis in Hancock County, Mississippi. Here she will undergo the Green Run test series, the final test series before the first launch of the Artemis lunar mission.
