But now, by According to publications of Vedomosti, the Ministry of Finance refused to allocate money for the project. According to sources, it turned out to be too expensive and technically difficult. After all, in order to transfer 300 thousand employees of the state apparatus to Aurora, it will take 1,3 billion rubles annually. For 800 thousand people, the amount will already be 13,3 billion rubles, and for 1,4 million people - 23,4 billion rubles.

These figures were considered unnecessary by the Ministry of Labor. They said that only 385 thousand officials need devices on the Russian OS. And in Rostelecom, on the contrary, they are sure that it is necessary to ensure the independence of Russia's digital space.

“You see what is happening in global markets. The Americans took over and stopped ZTE, Chinese smartphones are not sold in America. (…) We need to assess these risks, be prepared, manage them. We are preparing for this. We are a large country and we are obliged to ensure independent development,” said Mikhail Oseevsky, head of Rostelecom.

By the way, earlier only Russian Post switched to the Russian OS, which bought several thousand Inoi R7 smartphones with Aurora the year before last. At the same time, we note that Aurora is a fork of the Finnish Sailfish based on Linux. At the same time, there is very little software for it compared to Android and iOS.
