The release version of Chrome received playback controls on Windows 10

Google is working on a global media control feature for Chrome that allows you to control media content that plays in the background. This will make it possible to start and stop playback even if the browser is minimized.

The release version of Chrome received playback controls on Windows 10

Last weekend came out an update for the web browser that implements this feature on Windows 10. In the new version, it became possible to control playback directly from the browser toolbar.

By default, all features should start automatically, but if this does not happen, you need to activate the corresponding flag. To do this, go to the chrome://flags list of flags and set Global media controls to Enabled, then restart the browser to apply the changes.

After restarting, the play button should show up in the toolbar whenever there is an audio source playing in the background or in the foreground. It's important to note that this is already available in the release branch of the browser, not in Canary or Dev. That is, all users of the 79th assembly can already try the new product. This will allow you to turn off the sound with a "light movement of the hand", and not look for a tab among dozens of others.

The feature currently works with YouTube, Spotify, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Dailymotion, and Microsoft. Probably, in the future the number of supported services will expand.
