The non-profit organization "Russian Quality System" (Roskachestvo) has identified the best mobile applications with which preschool children can learn to read.
We are talking about training programs for operating systems Android and iOS. The quality of the apps was assessed based on eleven criteria, most of which related to security.
In particular, experts studied the available parental controls, requests for the provision of any personal data and permissions, the security of the transfer and storage of personal data, as well as the presence of certain unwanted modules.
In addition, attention was paid to the presence of advertising banners and the possibility of disabling them. It was also evaluated which of the studied applications have instructions for use.
It is reported that the rating includes a total of sixteen applications - eight for devices based on Android and iOS. Their list is presented in the illustration below.
“Most of the apps studied have in-app purchases that provide access to additional lessons or fully unlock the full functionality of the app. However, the applications do not offer or impose in-app purchases for speeding up or facilitating the passage of lessons (for example, for tips) and do not offer purchases aimed at obtaining game resources or improving characters, ”Roskachestvo notes.
