Samsung Electronics has announced plans to improve the capabilities of its Neural Units (NPUs) designed to perform artificial intelligence (AI) operations.

The NPU unit is already used in the flagship mobile processor Samsung Exynos 9 Series 9820, which is installed in smartphones of the Galaxy S10 family. In the future, the South Korean giant intends to integrate neural modules into processors for data centers and automotive systems, including chips for driver assistance platforms (ADAS).

In order to develop the NPU direction, Samsung intends to create more than 2000 new jobs worldwide by 2030, which is approximately 10 times the current number of personnel involved in the development of neural modules.

In addition, Samsung will strengthen cooperation with world-renowned research institutes and universities and support the development of talent in the field of artificial intelligence, including deep learning and neural processing.
