It was developed by Sogou, and the prototype was a TASS employee named Lisa. It is reported that her voice, facial expressions and lip movements were used to train a deep neural network. After that, a digital twin was created that imitates a living person.
“The peculiarity of a TV presenter with artificial intelligence is that she can adapt articulation, gestures and facial expressions to the content of the text being read. The virtual TV presenter will constantly learn as she continues to improve and improve her broadcasting ability,” said Cai Mingzhao, CEO of Xinhua.
And the head of TASS, Sergei Mikhailov, expressed hope for further cooperation with the Chinese media in the field of artificial intelligence and not only. At the same time, we note that earlier the Chinese have already used virtual TV presenters with artificial intelligence. They were male and female doppelgängers who spoke in Chinese and English.
The advantages of such a presenter are obvious - he does not need to pay a salary, his appearance is easily changed, he does not make mistakes and can work around the clock. At the same time, we note that artificial intelligence, according to scientists, in the future will take away from people precisely the intellectual spheres of activity, leaving low-skilled or monotonous work to the “crowns of creation”.
