The spacecraft was manufactured by VNIIEM Corporation JSC. This hydrometeorological satellite is designed to obtain global and local images of cloudiness, the Earth's surface, ice and snow cover in the visible, IR and microwave (including centimeter) ranges.

In addition, the device will collect data to determine the temperature of the sea surface, as well as information on the distribution of ozone in the atmosphere, on the heliogeophysical situation in near-Earth space, on the spectral density of the energy brightness of the outgoing radiation to determine the vertical profile of temperature and humidity in the atmosphere.

The launch of Meteor-M No. 2-2 into orbit will be carried out using the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle and the Fregat upper stage. The launch is tentatively scheduled for July 5 this year.

Meanwhile, at the Baikonur cosmodrome, the general assembly of the Proton-M space rocket, designed to launch the Russian communications and television broadcasting satellite Yamal-601, began. This device will be launched into orbit in the interests of the satellite operator JSC Gazprom Space Systems. The launch is scheduled for May 31st.
