Chrome OS 78 Released with Virtual Desktop Support

  • Updated activity indicators in the file manager. Information about the progress of operations has been moved from the lower left corner to the feedback area in the main window;
  • The interface for setting up the printer has been updated. In the printer settings section of the configurator, you can now immediately view the list of available printers that support IPP / IPPS, and without additional settings select a printer for printing or for using as the default printer (after pressing Ctrl + P, just select the printer);

  • Added an option in the ChromeVox screen reader to speak the style of the text;
  • The configurator separates settings for Chrome OS and Chrome browser. The Settings application, launched from the App Launcher list or through the settings shortcut menu, now offers operating system settings. Browser settings are placed in the "Advanced" section in the upper right corner of the configurator window or are available via "chrome://settings" in the address bar. A new URL "chrome://os-settings" has been proposed to call system settings from the browser;
  • Added support for watching videos in the YouTube app in picture-in-picture mode while working with other Android apps in the ARC ++ environment (App Runtime for Chrome, a layer for running Android applications in Chrome OS);
  • Added the ability to initiate a call from an Android device linked to the same account. The user can now select a phone number in the browser and redirect the call operation to the Android device from the context menu, after which a notification will pop up on the phone, allowing you to initiate a call;
  • The process of sending feedback and wishes has been simplified. A button for submitting feedback has been added to the shutdown dialog displayed when the power button is pressed.
