OpenWrt 24.10.5, a distribution designed for network devices such as routers, switches, and access points, has been released. OpenWrt supports 2849 devices and offers a build system that simplifies cross-compilation and the creation of custom builds. These builds allow users to create ready-made firmware with a desired set of pre-installed packages, optimized for specific tasks. Builds have been published for 39 target platforms.
Main changes in OpenWrt 24.10.5:
- The mediatek platform now supports the following devices: ASUS TUF-AX4200Q, Cudy WR3000P v1, ipTIME AX7800M-6E, Konka KOMI A31, Totolink X6000R, and WAVLINK WL-WN536AX6.
- The ramips platform has improved support for SD cards and eMMC drives, and added support for Cudy AP1300 Outdoor v1, Cudy C200P, Cudy R700, Cudy RE1200 Outdoor v1, and Hongdian H8850 v20 devices.
- The Rockchip platform has added support for the LinkEase EasePi R1 and Lunzn FastRhino R66S devices.
- Into the core Linux Support for ESMT F50L1G41LC and Fudan Micro FM25S01BI3 flash chips has been transferred.
- Resolved issues with TP-Link Archer C60 v2, Sagem @ST3864OP, AVM FritzBox 7530, Sophos RED 15w, Watchguard Firebox T10, GL.iNet GL-MV1000, Cudy AP3000 v1, Cudy WR3000H and Zbtlink ZBT Z8102AX V2 devices.
- A vulnerability in the Dropbear SSH server that could allow a local user to escalate their privileges has been fixed. Port forwarding options have been enabled.
- The kernel package has been updated to version 6.6.119 (was 6.6.110).
- The mac80211 subsystem state is synchronized with kernel 6.12.61.
- Updated packages mt76 2025-11-06 and wireless-regdb 2025.10.07.
