Release of CentOS 7.7 distributions

Available release of the CentOS 7.7 distribution (1908), which incorporated changes from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.7. The distributions are fully binary compatible with RHEL 7.7, changes made to the packages are usually rebranded and replaced with art.

CentOS 7.7 builds so far available for architectures x86_64, Aarch64 (ARM64), i386, ppc64le, Power9 ΠΈ
ARMv7 (armhfp). For x86_64 architecture prepared by installation DVD builds (4.5 GB), NetInstall image for network installation (570 MB), minimum server build (980 MB), full image for USB Flash (11 GB) and Live builds with GNOME (1.5 GB) and KDE ( 2 GB). Builds for containers, Vagrant, Cloud and Atomic Host are planned to be ready within a few days. The SRPMS packages from which the binaries were built and debuginfo are available via vault.centos.org.

All changes on CentOS 7.7:

  • Packages included with Python 3 (Python 2.7 is still offered by default);
  • The Bind DNS server has been updated to the 9.11 branch, and the chrony exact time synchronization system has been updated to version 3.4;
  • The contents of 37 packages have been changed, including: yum, PackageKit, ntp, httpd, dhcp, firefox, glusterfs, grub2, anaconda.
  • Removed RHEL-specific packages such as redhat-*, insights-client and subscription-manager-migration-data
  • In the ARM build, the kernel has been updated to release 4.19 and provides preliminary support for the Raspberry Pi 4 board.
