The latest version of ZLUDA, a compatibility layer for parallel computing on non-Nvidia GPUs, has been released. It aims for full CUDA compatibility. It corresponds to CUDA version 13.1. Currently, only AMD (ROCm version up to 7.2) is supported, with Intel support planned. It is written in Rust.
Initial support for the PhysX physics engine and the Blender 3D editor on top of ZLUDA has been announced.
About the name. Cuda means "miracles" in Polish, and złuda means "illusion." The author says he didn't intend it to have any deep meaning, but simply chose the first word that sounded similar to CUDA to change the name from notCUDA.
