Yandex thought about the possibility of launching its own virtual telecom operator: tariffs will include unlimited access to music and movies in search engine services.
According to one of the interlocutors of Kommersant, MVNO will operate at the frequencies of Tele2 networks.
Another source of the newspaper announced the possibility of subscribers to switch between operators with the Tele2 core network and confirmed that Yandex is already negotiating with telecom operators, but there are no agreements on the launch yet. The operator's tariffs will be integrated with the Yandex.Plus subscription, thus, subscribers will get unlimited access to music and movies in the corresponding services of the company. Presumably, the delivery of SIM cards will be handled by Yandex.Lavka couriers.
It is reported that Yandex itself denied plans to launch a virtual operator. Tele2 declined to comment.
Previously, a similar virtual operator was launched by the VKontakte social network under the name VK Mobile, the project did not live up to expectations and one year after launch.
