Linus Torvalds changed the status of bcachefs support in the kernel. Linux to "Externally maintained." The change note notes that the decision was made after lengthy discussions, both public and private. Effectively, this new status means that contributions to Bcachefs will no longer be accepted, but the file system will remain frozen in the main kernel. Until Kent Overstreet demonstrates his ability to interact correctly with other kernel developers and adhere to established development guidelines, further development of Bcachefs will take place outside the kernel codebase.
