On November 27, 0.8.0 of the console documentation generator from C++ source code was released doxyde, written in C and C++, and distributed under the Apache 2.0 license.

C++ source code is documented using /** comments */ containing @-commands, as in the classic tool Doxygen. Many Doxygen commands are already supported. The YAML format is used for configuration.

Doxide generates documentation in Markdown format and uses the project's incremental parsers to parse source code. tree-sitter.

Other dependencies include CMake, the C++20 compiler, and git submodules. CLI11, globe ΠΈ libyaml. Depending on the OS distribution used, the ICU library may be required.

List of changes:

  • The most important new feature is code coverage reports, which aggregate data from compiled binaries provided by gcov, with source code analysis using tree-sitter for more accurate C++ code coverage reports;
  • Fixed generation of mathjax.js file. To fix it, you need to run $ doxide init again, answering "N" (default) to the prompt about overwriting files, and "y" for this specific file.
