Dear fans of Heroes of Might and Magic II and the fheroes2 project!
Today we are pleased to present you with a new version of the fheroes2 engine 1.1.17! Each new release makes the project a little better, and version 1.1.17 is no exception, touching almost every aspect of the game.
The main innovation of the release is automatic card testing modeNow map creators can automatically run their scenarios with AI players, observe their behavior, analyze map balance, and simply watch events unfold without any intervention. This feature has never been available in any Heroes of Might and Magic game, and we hope it will aid both engine testing and the creation of new maps.
Along with this, the editor received another convenient improvement - switching between objects one group using the mouse wheel. This substantially speeds up the selection of objects without having to open the full list each time.
Significant improvements were also received Artificial IntelligenceAI heroes now make more intelligent decisions on the adventure map, staying in castles at the end of their turns to receive a movement bonus, better handling summoned phantoms in combat, and correctly using the spell "Fast Travel Point" on creatures under the effect of "berserk"Furthermore, it was possible to further speed up the AI's moves without any changes to its behavioral logic.
There are also many other improvements. We continue to refine the user interface and engine performance. Battle Only received several fixes and minor interface improvements.
An adventure map has appeared smooth inertial movement cameras, the random map generator began to place objects more correctly, and the owners Android-devices can now extract game resources directly from the GOG installer. We've also managed to reduce game launch time (which is especially noticeable on low-end devices) and further optimize RAM usage. Since the previous release, the team has closed more 30 tasks and fixes.
