The developer of Elasticsearch and Kibana has announced the release of future versions of its products under an open source license. PUFA. Previously, the core products were licensed under the Apache license, but in 2021 the company switched to a commercial license in order to prevent Amazon from providing their products as a service on its AWS platform without royalties to the developer. Amazon, in turn, announced the release of its own fork - Opensearch under the Apache license.
New releases under AGPL are planned for the next few weeks.
