Mozilla is testing a Private Network proxy service for Firefox

Mozilla has reversed the decision o folding Test Pilot programs and presented new functionality for testing - Private Network. Private Network allows you to establish a network connection through an external proxy service provided by Cloudflare. All traffic to the proxy server is encrypted, which allows you to use the service to provide protection in case of work in networks that are not trustworthy, for example, when working through public wireless access points. Another use of the Private Network is to hide the real IP address from sites and ad networks that select content based on the visitor's location.

After activating a new feature in the panel появляется a button that allows you to enable and disable work through a proxy, as well as evaluate the connection status. Private Network testing is limited to Firefox desktop users in the United States. During testing, the service is provided free of charge, but the final service is likely to be paid. The add-on code that implements the Private Network functionality, spreads licensed under MPL 2.0. Connections are relayed through the proxy "firefox.factor11.cloudflareclient.com:2486".

Recall that Test Pilot provides users with the opportunity to evaluate and test experimental features being developed for future releases of Firefox. To participate in the program, you need to install a special add-on Test Pilot, which will contain a list of features offered for testing. In progress Test Pilot is collecting and sending depersonalized statistics about the nature of work with the tested add-ons.
