Patent Documentation Reveals Lenovo's Flexible Smartphone Design

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has released Lenovo's patent documentation for a flexible design smartphone.

As you can see in the images, the device will receive a special articulation in the central part. By design, this connection somewhat resembles the fastening of the halves of a Microsoft Surface Book portable computer.

When closed, the display halves will be inside the case. This will protect the screen from damage and scratches.

Observers believe that the proposed design is more suitable for a tablet computer than a smartphone.

The patent application was filed last September, but the documentation has only just been made public. Whether Lenovo is going to bring the device with the proposed design to the commercial market has not yet been reported.

Note that Lenovo has previously demonstrated a tablet with a flexible design. If necessary, the device can be folded in half and used as a phablet, including for making voice calls. The screen size is 9-10 inches diagonally. The articulation is located in the central part of the gadget.
