On June 24, the popular free cross-platform planetarium released version 26.2. Stellarium — the second one this year.
The project is written in C++ using the Qt framework (versions 5 and 6 are supported) and is distributed under the GNU GPL 2.0 license.
Main improvements:
- new names of stars according to the IAU classification assigned since November 2025 have been added;
- added names of stars according to the IAU classification, designated only by Gaia numbers;
- Added script command for equation of time;
- added territory.geojson data for astronomical cultures;
- Added Yuan Dynasty (China) astronomical culture;
