Microsoft Edge, based on Chromium, now has a dark theme for new tabs

Microsoft is currently testing the Chromium-based Edge browser as part of its Insider program. Almost every day new features are added there, which should ultimately make the browser fully functional.

Microsoft Edge, based on Chromium, now has a dark theme for new tabs

One of the main activities of Microsoft is Everyone's favorite dark mode. At the same time, they want to extend it to the entire browser, and not just to individual pages. And now in the latest build of Microsoft Edge, support for dark mode for the new tab has appeared. Previously, dark mode was available on the flags page, as well as on the Settings, History, Downloads, and Favorites pages of the browser.

To activate it, you need to enable the edge-follow-os-theme flag in edge://flags/, then restart the program. After that, in Windows 10, go to Settings > Personalization > Colors, scroll down to “Default App Mode” and select “Dark”.

In addition, dark theme appeared also in Microsoft Edge Dev Build 78.0.244.0. Previously, this was only available in the Canary channel, but has now reached the developer version. At the same time, switching allows you to customize the design of the Dev assembly depending on the design of the OS or separately.

Other features of Dev Build 78.0.244.0 include the ability to import cookies from classic Edge and the ability to automatically delete browsing data when you exit. And the browser no longer flags downloads as unsafe when they are downloaded from a trusted or known source.

Finally, issues with playing Netflix content have been resolved, with the platform crashing with error D7111-1331. This update fixes another bug that caused synchronization to freeze during the initialization phase.
