Qmmp music player version 2.4 has been released. The player features two interfaces: a "simple" interface using standard elements, and a "classic" interface that replicates the Xmms/Winamp/Audacious interface. OSS4 (FreeBSD), ALSA (Linux), Pulse Audio, JACK, QtMultimedia, Icecast, WaveOut (Win32), DirectSound (Win32), and WASAPI (Win32). The code is written in C++ using the Qt library and is distributed under the GPLv2 license. Ready-made packages are created for Ubuntu.
Among the changes in Qmmp 2.4:
- Group editing of tags (as a separate module).
- Built-in lyrics editor.
- The settings dialog now includes the ability to discard changes made (OK/Cancel buttons).
- An "OK" button has been added to the tag editor to allow you to make changes and close them simultaneously.
- Setting module priorities.
- Support for id3v2 tags for FLAC files.
- The player libraries (libqmmp/libqmmpui) have been converted to use the PIMPL idiom, and copy operators and move constructors have been added for some classes.
- Possibility to play MIDI and WavPack files from archives.
- Obtaining song lyrics from the Internet only upon user request (optional).
- Support for Opus files in Webm container.
- Simple user interface improvements: customizable dark mode colors for playlist and visualization, ability to hide the status bar.
- Improved command line support: when creating/deleting playlists, you can now use the playlist name instead of the playlist number.
- In the group mode, it is now possible to display the artist/album in an additional group row.
At the same time, a set of additional modules, Qmmp Plugin Pack 2.4, was released, which added a module for playing midi files using the libtimidity library (as an alternative to wildmidi in the main distribution).
