The data of 20 million users of the Aptoide digital content store was published on a popular hacker forum. The hacker who posted the information claims that it is part of a database consisting of the data of 39 million Aptoide users. The sensitive information is believed to have been obtained from an app store hack earlier this month.

The message says that the data published on the forum relates to users who registered and used the Aptoide platform in the period from July 21, 2016 to January 28, 2018. The database contains user email addresses, hashed passwords, registration dates, full name and date of birth, device data, and IP addresses at the time of registration. Some entries are accompanied by technical information, including registration and developer tokens if the account had administrator rights or was the source of referrals.

It is noted that the database with user data is still available for download. Representatives of the Aptoide platform have so far refrained from commenting on this issue. According to official data published on the Aptoide website, more than 150 million users from around the world are currently registered on the site.

Recall that in October 2018, the Portuguese app store Aptoide accused Google of using the Play Protect tool to secretly remove applications installed from a third-party store from user devices without any warning or notification. The statement said that due to such actions by Google, the Aptoide platform lost 60 million users in 2,2 days.
