General Motors, Honda and Cruise have announced plans to launch autonomous commercial passenger transportation services in Japan in early 2026. For this purpose, a new joint venture will be created. The provision of robotaxi services will begin in central Tokyo using dozens of specially designed autonomous Cruise Origin taxis, the number of which is planned to be increased to 500. The service area will then gradually expand beyond central Tokyo. Image source: Cruise
