Shotcut 25.03, a video editor developed by the author of the MLT project and using this framework for video editing, has been released. Support for video and audio formats is implemented via FFmpeg. Plugins implementing video and audio effects compatible with Freei0r and LADSPA are available. Shotcut features include multi-track editing with the ability to compose video from fragments in various source formats, without the need for prior import or re-encoding. Built-in tools are available for creating screencasts, processing webcam images, and receiving streaming video. The code is written in C++ using the Qt framework and is distributed under the GPLv3 license. Ready-to-use builds are available for Linux (AppImage, flatpak and snap), macOS и Windows.
Among the changes in the new release:
- Text style presets have been added to the subtitle insertion tool (Subtitles > Generate Text on Timeline).
- Added buttons to copy the current filter and all filters.
- The window title reflects the selected video mode.
- The No Sync filter now has options for vertical and horizontal alignment.
- Added filters "360: Cap Top & Bottom" and "360: Equirectangular Wrap" for removing parts and correcting videos shot in 360-degree mode.
- The playlist now has a "Not In a Bin" section, which contains clips that don't fit into other sections.
- Added support for the tags "#rgba", "#yuv", "#gpu" and "#10bit" to the filter search field.
- The timeline now marks clips that have filters.
In addition, the multi-track video editor Flowblade 2.20 was released, designed for composing videos from individual videos, audio files and images. The editor provides tools for trimming clips down to individual frames, using filters, defining your own order of application of tools, adjusting the behavior of the time scale, compositing images (for example, you can rotate, gradually replace and create transition effects). The project code is written in Python (MLT, FFmpeg, PyGTK) and is distributed under the GPLv3 license. The assemblies are prepared in the Flatpak format.
Among the changes in the new release:
- Expanded clip synchronization capabilities. New operations for synchronizing video tracks have been added: Sync All Clips and Update Sync to Clips. Support for automatic audio synchronization when adding clips to user-created tracks has been added. Split audio and video operations now apply to all mirrored tracks, not just the first track.
- Added an operation to save a container clip from a video sequence.
- The Position Scale and Position Scale Rotate filters now allow you to add commonly used animation effects, such as zoom in/out and move, in a single action.
- Added support for ready-made stabilized media elements that do not require additional processing.
- Added the ability to create a copy of a video sequence.
- Added support for templates for creating generators based on pre-defined standard settings.
