As you may have heard, for many years the graphics editor GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP, translated as "cripple") has faced criticism for its name, which many activists consider offensive. Because of this, a fork was even created called glimpse.
The authors of GIMP finally decided to listen to the opinion of the community and after a short discussion settled on a new name: FOSS Arts & Graphics (FAG). This name was chosen as more tolerant to people with disabilities, and also to emphasize independence from the GNU project, which in turn has recently been subjected to massive criticism. Officially, the migration to the new name will begin on April 1 of this year, all work is planned to be completed by summer.
